Temple just did not have the football fan base or commitment to football

back then. The Big East had a deal with ECU to bring them into the conference. So, ECU played us, WV and others in anticipation of getting in the conference. In the end, the conference, led by Tranghese, screwed them over and it all fell apart. ECU has a great fan base. The AAC does not do them justice, but it is highly unlikely they will get into a P-5 conference now.
